As promised, I'm sharing a few pics that I took while we were on vacation. Unfortunately, I didn't take nearly as many as I had planned and wanted to. Our big adventure to Roan Mountain for a picnic was cut short as we discovered Laura has the same problem her mama does riding on curvy mountain roads. (I was driving if you were wondering how I was combating it.) Let's just say I could have used more than the one spare outfit I brought with us that day. :-/ When we did have to pull over the second time to, er, clean up, there was a beautiful overlook and that is where I took the bulk of my pictures of pretty views.
I took this pic from our deck with my iPhone during a sunset. What is interesting about it is that to the right of top of the tree on the left, there was a contrail, of which there is NO evidence in this picture!
The view from Roan Mountain. I think we were still in Tennessee at this point, but probably looking into North Carolina.
More of the view from Roan Mountain.
And still more of the view!
And here is the little Sweat Pea. She was down to a diaper and a bib at this point; hence, the headshot.
Happy Saturday, y'all! Enjoy the weekend, I know I plan to!
Oh, my...I can almost feel those curves...my ears always stop up in the mountains, too.
ReplyDeleteCute story!
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
Yes, we think this was her first experience with the ear-popping, too, poor thing! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteBeautiful shots! Those views are spectacular.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is so much more breathtaking in person -- I wish I could capture the same effect with my camera!
DeleteSounds like a lovely holiday.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the mobile phone pic of the unseen contrail will become a favourite for the memories it recreates rather than the image immediately before your eyes :-)
You are probably right! :-) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteNice shots in spite of your queasiness! Have you ever tried ginger, either in tablet form or candied? It helps me. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried ginger in either form -- I will have to remember that next time around. Thanks for the suggestion! :-)
DeleteThe ginger is for you! Not for the babe.
ReplyDeleteGreat mountain views! I agree with Barbara - ginger is great for nausea and a great excuse to scarf down the candied version.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am not the biggest fan of ginger, but perhaps I would like the candied version. I will have to give that a try the next time!

ReplyDeletebeautiful views! I can sympathize with you and that sweet girl, those windy roads can make for very uncomfortable car rides... Book Savvy Babe
ReplyDeleteYes, they have been the bane of my existence for many years. I'm just grateful I can drive them without issue and that my parents let me drive their car when we take those mountain roads, lol!
DeleteOh I feel your babies pain, I'm that way, now I do use "sea bands" it's a bracelet kind of thing that applies pressure on your wrist acupressure available in most pharmacies. Well worth the $. I always have them in my purse. Your pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of those sea bands! I will have to look into those, as well. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for stopping by!
DeletePoor thing! I'm glad you were still able to make an outing of it even with those challenges.
ReplyDeleteThanks... Yes, it wasn't quite the day we had planned, but it wasn't a total loss, either. My husband and I plan to go back in the Fall and my parents have already volunteered to stay back with Laura so we don't risk a repeat, haha.
DeleteWonderful pictures but I'm touched by little sweet pea - what a sweetie! - and her queasy tummy!
ReplyDeleteThank you! She was a trooper, that's for sure! I don't think she really understood just what was going on. She really wasn't terribly fussy, just queasy and unable to help it!
DeleteHope Sweet Pea recovered! The mountain scenerey os spectacular - there's a Roan Head at Barrow, in Cumbria (where my husband was brought up and we went on holiday), which is right on the coast, with miles of sand dunes. I wonder if there was some connection with an early settler who knew both places? My Saturday Snapshot is very brief this week but it's sad - a site where lepers once lived http://goo.gl/TkmQ7
ReplyDeleteYes, she napped on our way back to our house and seemed to be in fine spirits the rest of the night! I didn't realize there was a Roan Head -- you do have to wonder if they are somehow connected! I will have to do some digging. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWhat kind of tree is that in the right background of your deck shot? When the picture is blown up, it looks like someone did some pointillism in your photo.
ReplyDeleteI had to ask my parents because I just couldn't remember, and they said that they are locust trees. They have an almost lacy look in person, too. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteBeautiful views. I can see how you might get queasy after driving those curves for a while.
ReplyDeleteThe poor little thing. Sorry she inherited your car sickness. I love those moutains rolling on like shadows of each other. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely view....and what a cutie pie in the last picture!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Snapshot.
Sweat Pea is such a cutie, even in just a bib and a diaper! So sorry to hear about the twisty ride but I hope that was the only bad part of vacation. Judging by your photos it was certainly a beautiful trip! Love your pics! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch an adorable little Sweet Pea and the scenery is gorgeous Melissa.
ReplyDeleteYeah...my hubby gets a bit queasy as well....and he does the driving!
ReplyDeleteYour Sweet Pea is especially gorgeous. I'm glad you could still enjoy the scenery even with the interruptions.
