When word that Yelena is a Soulfinder—able to capture and release souls—spreads like wildfire, people grow uneasy. Already Yelena's unusual abilities and past have set her apart. As the Council debates Yelena's fate, she receives a disturbing message: a plot is rising against her homeland, led by a murderous sorcerer she has defeated before.…
Honor sets Yelena on a path that will test the limits of her skills, and the hope of reuniting with her beloved spurs her onward. Her journey is fraught with allies, enemies, lovers and would-be assassins, each of questionable loyalty. Yelena will have but one chance to prove herself—and save the land she holds dear.

As a glassmaker and a magician-in-training, Opal Cowen understands trial by fire. Now it's time to test her mettle. Someone has sabotaged the Stormdancer clan's glass orbs, killing their most powerful magicians. The Stormdancers—particularly the mysterious and mercurial Kade—require Opal's unique talents to prevent it happening again. But when the mission goes awry, Opal must tap in to a new kind of magic as stunningly potent as it is frightening. And the further she delves into the intrigue behind the glass and magic, the more distorted things appear. With lives hanging in the balance—including her own—Opal must control powers she hadn't known she possessed…powers that might lead to disaster beyond anything she's ever known.
Good week.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to read the Study books by Snyder. I've heard really good things about them!
ReplyDeleteWonder if Storm Glass mentions Murano glass. I swear, it's popping up in all the books I read lately.
ReplyDeleteI have to get to Fire Study, too. I liked the first two books and I need to finish out the trilogy. Then I might read the spin offs.
ReplyDeleteStephanie ~ I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed the first two books. And I never would have even heard of them if I hadn't started this blog, I can't believe how out of the loops I've been on books until recently!
ReplyDeleteLenore ~ Lol, I'll let you know. Can't imagine how it would work its way into the story, though. :-)
Hey Melissa! I just wanted to let you know that I've nominated you for a few blogger awards. :) Details on my book blog.
ReplyDeleteI feel like such a failure. Those books have been in my TBR pile but I haven't read them at all! Happy reading!
ReplyDeletei love the study series!!! i realy need to get storm glass! happy reading!
ReplyDeleteMaria V Snyder quickly became one of my fave authors last year when I discovered and read the Study series. I didn't like Fire Study as much as the first too, only because it was more, I guess battle-oriented and less magical. (In my opinion). But I thought it matched the other covers just fine.. not sure which covers you have?
ReplyDeleteI have Storm Glass on my shelf waiting to be read. I am hoping it's just as enchanting as The Study series!
