So I'm sure you're all wondering, what's the giveaway? I pondered this for awhile... A copy of a book I rated highly, a gift card, something else bookish... Ultimately, I decided on a $20 Amazon gift card. The reason? I could send it via email the same day I announced the winner! Talk about instant gratification!!

What a hard (but fun!) decision about which book to buy! Either "Interpreter of Maladies" or "The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri would be a contender, since I just finished "Unaccustomed Earth" and really enjoyed it.

I was thinking I could use the gift card to buy a whole lot of books at the used book/bargain price. Some are going for only a little over a dollar, and when you come down to it, it doesn't really matter to me whether some pages are dog-eared or have a little rip in the left-hand corner of one page.

I know exactly what I'd get. A new copy of A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN. It is my 2nd favorite book (GONE WITH THE WIND first) and I only have my mom's original copy. So when I find people ALL THE TIME who haven't read this classically wonderful book, I want to loan it to them but my mom's book is a keepsake and too valuable to me to take any chances. Plus, I'd like to read it again and would feel better when the clutz I am spills something on it. SO THAT is what I'd get with the card.
